![]() CCF38CD Track List'60th Anniversary Collection' 60 years is an exceptionally long time for a ceili band to remain in operation, and there's one major reason that the Tulla Ceili Band has lasted - their music is superb. The Tulla Ceili Band endures for many good reasons but principally because of their distinctive swing and great choice of tunes, this album is a testament to that. Recorded in June 2006, to mark the Band's 60th Anniversary, it is also a tribute and dedication to one of it's founders and leaders for most of its lifetime, J.Joe Hayes and also to Francie Donnellan. Their sons Martin and Mark duet a fitting honour and legacy to these great men.

Jack Talty & Cormac Begley In Jack Talty's words - “It’s a concertina duet album, which I suppose is a bit unusual. It has been done before but not very recently. Cormac is from West Kerry and I’m from West Clare and they’re the styles of music we’re playing on two concertinas. We use a number of different concertinas on the album, ranging over five octaves, so it’s unusual in that respect.” Both lads are from very accomplished musical families and their pedigree is obvious when listening to the CD, and they are both fine musicians in their own right. This album is highly praised by Martin Hayes.

On this his first CD he sings mainly songs which have been handed down through his family as well some of his own newly composed songs, all ably assisted by the CDs producer Ron Kavana. A collection of rare and unheard recordings spanning a lifetime of musical passion sadly cut short by illness. The album is the result of a four year journey to uncover rare and unheard recordings of the music and songs of Eddie Clarke. A Dublin resident originally from Virginia, County Cavan, he pioneered the system of playing a C Hohner Chromonica from the higher-pitched reed C sharp reed plate, which allowed him to use the instrument's slide to play snappy triplet ornaments. Eddie was a brilliant musician and in Dublin he mixed among the many old greats of the time, supping at the well of tradition and he amassed a deep knowledge and understanding of the whole tradition of music, song and language. Three CDs are of his mouthorgan playing and one is of songs.
