24 tunes from England, Ireland, Quebec and Australia played on an Eric Martin D/G two-row.

This album was conceived following the utterly reckless acquisition of a gorgeous two-row melodeon in a pub in Bampton, Oxfordshire on Whit Monday 2009. The instrument has three voices and stops on both treble and bass ends: the extra voice and the fabulous build quality and style give it a distinctive mix of one-row and two-row characteristics. The tracks selected for this CD are tunes which fit particularly well on this instrument:

Pearl O' Shaughnessy's Barn Dances

Go to Bed and Take Your Boots, John / Goin' Courtin'
Sliabh Luachra Polkas
Long Room at Scarborough / Sir Roger de Coverley
Cumberland Waltz / My Father was a Dutchman
Charlie Batchelor's / Sustead Schottische / Highland Schottische
Wright's Quickstep / Flashing Heels / Tousle your Kerchie / The Bicycle
Bob Cann's Uncles' Waltzes
Polka Chinoise / Les Gobeuils Ronfleuses
Mikey Callaghan's / The Cokey / Albert Hewitt's / Cliff Hornpipe

Katie Howson is well-known for her distinctive style on the one-row melodeon, and has played English ceilidh music for over thirty years. She is a founder member of Old Hat Concert Party and Old Hat Dance Band, fronts Katie's Quartet and is a member of the new ceilidh band PolkaWorks. She teaches melodeon up and down the country (and abroad) and is co-director of the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust, in which role she has set up the ground-breaking Melodeon Makers course and runs Melodeons and More, now it its tenth year.
