Derek Bell recorded Carolan's Receipt in 1975, the same year he joined the
Chieftains. This was one of the first LPs devoted to the music of the blind
harper Turlough O'Carolan, and it helped to introduce his music to the world.
Gentle and poetic, haunting at times, this is a wonderful interpretation of the
refined, evocative sounds of the Irish harp playing Carolan's ancient tunes.
Bell recreates the authentic sound of Carolan, the blind 17th century Irish
harper who transformed this traditional musical genre.

Traditional music from Cork on box, fiddle and keyboards. Pat Sullivan is a box-player with a lively, energetic style which has endeared him to set-dancers in particular. Vince Milne is an imaginative and flamboyant fiddle-player from the Clonakilty area of West Cork. Bríd Cranitch is widely respected as a keyboard player who is never content to limit herself to the monotonous vamping we sometimes hear from céilí band pianists.
Strayaway is the first solo album by Caoimhin Vallely. It mostly features solo
piano but also features appearances by Brian Morrisey (bodhran), Paul Meehan
(guitar), Niall Vallely (concertina), Cillian Vallely (uilleann pipes) and
Martin Leahy (drums). Amongst the tracks are delightful renderings of Margaret
Barrys and Michael Gormans The Strayaway Child and Ed Reavys The Whistler of
